ON-SITE PORTABLE STORAGE VS SELF-STORAGE
The main difference is where your belongings stay. With Driveway Containers, storage comes to your property. With a storage-facility unit, you take your belongings to the facility.
Access: at home or at a facility?
A Driveway Container stays at your home while you load, organize and use it. That can be useful when you need to take items in and out during a project.
For a facility unit, check the specific location’s access hours and entry arrangements. For example, Public Storage directs customers to each property’s information for hours and features.
Space: your driveway or somewhere else?
On-site storage needs a suitable placement area and delivery access. For Driveway Containers, plan for at least 50 feet of clear, straight-line space for delivery and pickup, with placement confirmed for the property.
A facility unit keeps storage away from your property. If a container cannot be placed at your home, an off-site option may suit your situation better.
Features: ask about what your items need
Compare the actual storage spaces available to you. Ask about access, dimensions and any environmental conditions your belongings require. Do not assume all portable containers or facility units offer the same features.

Cost: compare the full rental
Driveway Containers charges $300 upfront for delivery and eventual pickup, plus prorated first-month rent. Each following month is $150 due on the first, with no further proration. There is no deposit or minimum rental period.
When comparing a facility quote, include the cost and effort of getting your belongings there and back, and read its billing terms. Review our pricing page for the pickup-ticket rule and final-month billing.
Choose based on your project
If you have suitable space and want belongings nearby during remodeling, decluttering or staging, on-site storage can make that project easier to organize. If you need storage away from home, look at a facility option.
Driveway Containers delivers and collects containers empty. It does not transport your loaded container to a new address.
