Practical storage guides

LOAD IT ONCE.
FIND WHAT YOU NEED.

A useful storage container is more than a place to pile boxes. Plan your layout so your belongings stay organized and the items you need remain reachable.

Before loading

START WITH AN ITEM LIST.

List the furniture, boxes and totes you want to store. Measure the larger pieces and ask about fit before reserving. Your usable space depends on the items you bring and the walkway you leave.

Separate things you will need during the project from items you can leave until the end. Keep important documents, everyday essentials and anything with special storage requirements in an appropriate place.

Put your space to work

FOUR HABITS THAT MAKE STORAGE EASIER.

1

Load clean and dry

Inspect belongings before packing. Avoid loading in the rain, and allow damp furniture or other suitable items to dry before storage.

2

Pack stable boxes

Use suitable boxes or totes, fill gaps so contents do not move around, and put heavier boxes below lighter ones. Avoid unstable stacks.

3

Label where you can see

Label boxes on the sides with room names and contents. Keep a simple inventory or photo record so you know where things went.

4

Leave useful access

Put frequently needed items near the doors. Leave a practical walkway instead of packing every available gap.

Keep it usable

PACK FOR THE PROJECT YOU ARE DOING.

During a remodel

Group furniture and boxes by room. Leave the pieces you will return first where you can get to them without emptying everything else.

During a cleanout

Keep review, donate and keep groups distinct. Label the categories, and avoid turning the container into a second crowded garage.

Follow care instructions for your belongings. If an item requires controlled temperature or humidity, choose storage suited to that requirement.

When the project is done

PLAN TO EMPTY IT COMPLETELY.

Bring belongings back in a practical order or arrange their next destination separately. Check the corners, shelves of stacked boxes and the floor for loose personal items and trash.

Contact us when the container is empty and ready. Billing stops when you sign the pickup ticket, even if collection happens later. Only the first month is prorated.
