Choose the right storage

KEEP IT DRY.
CHOOSE THE RIGHT FIT.

Before storing furniture, boxes or household belongings outside your home, consider their care needs—not just the space they take up.

Start with the belongings

WHAT CONDITIONS DO YOUR ITEMS NEED?

Read the care instructions for sensitive belongings and consider the length of the project. Some items need controlled temperature or humidity; a ventilated container does not provide those conditions.

Do not assume every piece of furniture, electronic device, photograph, document or other household item has the same storage requirements. Ask about suitability before loading anything unusual or sensitive.

Space and storage conditions are different questions

An item can fit inside a container and still need a different type of storage. If controlled conditions are necessary, choose a provider and space that supply them.

Good habits before you load

KEEP MOISTURE OUT OF THE PLAN.

Inspect first

Check belongings for moisture or mildew before packing. Do not hide a damp-item problem inside a box or wrapper.

Use a dry loading window

Avoid loading in the rain and give suitable items time to dry before storing them.

Stay attentive

Keep an inventory and inspect stored belongings during the rental. Follow the care instructions for anything you are protecting.

Repair and restoration projects

DAMAGED ITEMS NEED THEIR OWN PLAN.

A driveway container gives you extra room. It is not a drying room, remediation service or a substitute for professional advice about water-damaged or contaminated items.

Speak with your restoration professional before putting affected belongings into storage. Follow their instructions about treatment, drying and whether the items should be stored at all.

Your container stays at home

STORE WITH A PLAN YOU CAN REVISIT.

On-site storage keeps your belongings nearby during the project. Organize it so you can retrieve items and check what you have stored, rather than creating inaccessible stacks.

Driveway Containers delivers a 16-foot container empty, leaves it at your property and collects it empty after the rental. We do not move loaded containers or take belongings to an off-site storage facility.
